Deliberation labs offer a space for teams to engage a difficult decision or challenging dilemma that the team is facing. Drawing on a pragmatist ethic toward improvement and promising practices in data-informed decision making, deliberation labs allow participants to interrogate a situation they currently face, investigate relevant data, and communicate openly about organizational practices and values. The lab coach does not tell you how to ‘fix’ the problem or ‘resolve’ the matter but instead invites consideration and exploration of the situation across three analytical domains that bring the most salient matters to the surface and empower team members to meet the moment and learn more about themselves and one another in the process.
